Chiropractic Care for Sinus Problems

Can a Chiropractor Help Sinus Problems?

Many people know that chiropractors can help with numerous injuries and problems throughout the body. Traditionally, chiropractic care is associated with back or neck pain, and as chiropractic adjustments become more mainstream, more and more people are learning that chiropractors can help with ongoing problems, such as headaches, inability to sleep, poor digestion, stress, anxiety, and even sensory disorders.

But as we get farther into cold and flu season, it’s important to know that chiropractors are also able to relieve a health problem that everyone deals with to some degree: sinus problems.

When most people schedule an appointment with their local problem, it’s usually not for things like congestion, sinus headaches or drainage problems. But chiropractic adjustments can be extremely successful for treating sinus problems, and here’s why.

Your sinuses consist of eight different hollow areas throughout the bones in your temples, forehead, and cheeks. When your sinuses are healthy and functioning properly, they’re able to filter clean air through your lungs and keep it free of dust, dirt and other pollutants.

Unfortunately, it’s very easy for your sinuses to become compromised since they’re connected to your neck and spine. When the spine and neck become compromised, the linings in your sinuses can become inflamed, fail to drain properly, and result in pain, swelling around your eyes, clogged nasal passages, and fever. And with cold, flu and allergy season upon us, more and more people are becoming susceptible to sinus problems and their side effects.

So, how can chiropractors help with sinus problems?

Chiropractic Sinus Relief

Chiropractors know that removing any obstructions in the neck and spine is an excellent way to provide sinus relief.

Many of the reasons people experience sinus problems, headaches and infections can be traced directly to misalignments in the neck, spine and surrounding muscles. These misalignments can keep your sinuses from draining properly and can result in swelling throughout the sinuses and a lot of pain.

Through manual adjustments and spinal manipulation, chiropractors are able to remove misalignments and obstructions within your body and alleviate any pain or symptoms in your sinuses.

Chiropractic adjustments are also a better form of treatment compared to how we usually treat sinus problems. While manual adjustments are non-invasive and gentle on your sinuses, traditional treatment options like nasal sprays just dry out your sinuses and prompt the mucous membrane to just make more mucus, which prolongs any sinus problems you experience.

Visiting your chiropractor on a regular basis is also an ideal form of preventative treatment if you experience chronic sinus problems, infections, or headaches.
